A couple of weeks ago we inspected a house which was old and had assorted lean too’s added over the years. Our inspector pointed out the fact that all the paving around the boundaries was sloping towards the house and so any surface water would end up flowing into the sub-floor area – not good for stumps and foundations. Of course, this came as a surprise to the vendor, but the inspector, being an experienced builder, pointed out how this problem could be fixed and the buyer (our client) told me he was really pleased with the inspector taking the time to go through all the concerns with him at the inspection – and continued with the purchase!
