Houspect is available to assist property owners in South Australia with building defects and disputes by providing professional building inspection reports which are designed to help in dispute resolution.
Building a new home or renovating an existing one doesn’t always go exactly to plan. Problems can arise along the way and occasionally home owners are left with a “not so perfect” product at the end of the build.
When there is an increase in construction in your area, the demand for skilled tradesmen also increases. Unfortunately for homeowners this can present a shortage of professional, quality contractors and you may be left drawing the short straw when it comes to hiring an experienced tradesperson. The result of this can be poor quality workmanship and defects that leave you unsatisfied with the finish of your project.
This substandard work can result in a dispute between home owners and contractors and occasionally the issues can become unresolved. When a dispute can’t be resolved between both parties the case can be referred to SA Consumer and Business Affairs where they hope to help you reach a suitable resolution.
At this stage, you will benefit from having an independent third party assist you in providing evidence to support your claim. A Houspect Building Defects Inspection will provide you with a comprehensive defect report which will clearly outline the issues under dispute and help prove your case.
What Does the Report Provide?
A Houspect Building Defects Inspection will be carried out by one of our experienced inspectors who will prepare a detailed independent and expert report completed in accordance with Australian Standards.
Our qualified building inspector will assess the property and identify any defects that in their expert judgement do not reach building codes or have not been completed to an acceptable standard of workmanship. The report will list all items that are not in accordance with the building plans or do not comply with current National Construction Codes (NCC).
The report will contain photos of notable items (where possible) and provide you with defect details that are required to support your claim to the parties involved. Having such a report can at times help parties reach a mutually acceptable resolution, without the expense of going to court.
However, if a legal resolution is required, a Houspect Building Defects Report can provide an unbiased assessment that you will need to pursue your case further.
